PITTSBURGH - Due to the
proprietary nature of the customer's manufacturing processes, the
customer requested that their name not be disclosed, the company
noted.
Chuck Roskow, Cybra VP of Operations, said, "The customer is a
strictly IBM Power Systems shop. Their program design required an
RFID solution that supported both their IBM Power System server and
the Motorola MC9090-G RFID handheld reader. The customer was
thrilled when they learned of Cybra's EdgeMagic IBM Power System
solution, because it includes support for IBM Data Queues. With this
solution the operator scans 1D bar codes on the order form, 1D and
2D bar codes on most products, and RFID EPC tags on products
destined for Wal-Mart and other mandating customers using the
Motorola MC9090-G RFID handheld, and the data is passed directly to
the Data Queue for further processing. The customer is very
impressed with EdgeMagic performance -- the scanned data appears on
their server instantaneously.

Harold Brand, CEO of
Cybra, noted that, "We are pleased that that a leading specialty
pharmaceutical company selected EdgeMagic precisely because it runs
on the IBM Power System server. RFID is an important technology for
the pharmaceutical industry -- especially for companies that need to
comply with the E-Pedigree laws of the states of Florida and
California. The ability to track Lot, Potency, Expiration, National
Drug Code, Electronic Product Code, Manufacturer, Distributor,
Wholesaler, Pharmacy, and the serial number of each dosage unit
requires the integration of RFID technology at the point of
manufacture. This customer is a best-in-class pharmaceutical company
that has thrived by developing exclusive technologies. Given their
proven record of innovative technology, it is natural that they
selected EdgeMagic for their IBM Power System server which will give
them a head start on meeting the California Board of Pharmacy's
'E-Pedigree Requirements' which are scheduled to go into effect in
January 2011."
EdgeMagic Integrated RFID Control
Software for the IBM System i is designed to manage edge devices,
read RFID tags and easily integrates with System i ERP/WMS
applications. EdgeMagic runs on application servers such as IBM
WebSphere or Apache Tomcat, and although optimized for the IBM
System i, EdgeMagic runs on other major computing platforms such as
Microsoft Windows and Linux. |
