Vail to Leverage SkyeTek's Web Services, Security, and Professional Services

Westminster, CO -- SkyeTek, Inc., the leading provider of embedded RFID reader technology, today announced that Vail Resorts has chosen SkyeTek as its solutions partner in the development of a new wireless on-mountain RFID network and suite of Web services. The new technology platform will enable Vail Resorts, operator of the Vail Mountain, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Heavenly ski resorts, to improve operational efficiencies and enhance guest services over the upcoming ski seasons.

"Our ability to provide the highest levels of service to our guests is a key differentiator at each of our properties," said Robert Urwiler, CIO of Vail Resorts. "By leveraging the new technology platform, we expect to further our reputation as innovators in this area. We evaluated many potential technology partners - ultimately, no one could bring to bear the ability to seamlessly converge RFID and Web services with our existing base of applications like SkyeTek could."

Vail plans to pilot the use of SkyeTek's technology to RFID-enable select lift passes for automated authentication this season. The objective of the pilot is to prove the technology as the basis for a better on-mountain experience for guests through the enablement of a wide variety of enhanced guest services and operational efficiencies.

"SkyeTek's technology allows physical goods and assets, such as lift tickets, to enjoy the benefits of participating in a network-connected world," said Rob Balgley, CEO of SkyeTek. "In Vail's case, SkyeTek is leveraging its Web services technology and modern RFID security model to transform the on- mountain experience into something faster and more secure than in the past."

SkyeTek combines intelligent software with inexpensive hardware to provide a modern RFID security model, distributed policy management engine, and network-ready, cost-efficient readers. Enterprises deploy SkyeTek's solutions to deliver a seamless RFID edge network capable of centralized management and real-time response for applications in item tracking, product authentication, access control, and patron management.
